Age. A Barrier Or Not?

I knew him 6 years ago, he was my tutor and my friend, i kinda felt something when i'm with him, but now i don't, looking back then, he kinda spelled it out, but i was uncertain, uncertain and insecure, the age gap was 10 years, is it an acceptable gap? is this the right choice to make?
